Wat het berekent en wanneer je het gebruikt
Looks up the DNS records a domain name: its IPv4 en IPv6 addresses (A en AAAA), mail servers (MX), Naam servers (NS), text records (TXT), aliases (CNAME), zone details (SOA) en certificate rules (CAA). Use it tot check that a domain points where you expect, or tot debug email en website set-up.
Zo gebruik je het, stap voor stap
- Type a domain Naam such as Voorbeeld.com.
- Choose a record type, of Houden “All veelvoorkomend records”.
- Press “Look up DNS”.
- Read Per stuk record card. TTL is how many Seconden the answer may be cached.
Wat elk invoerveld betekent
- Domain Naam – The domain tot look up. Web addresses are cleaned tot the domain, so https://example.com/page also works.
- Record type – One record type, of all the veelvoorkomend ones.
Zo lees je de resultaten
- A en AAAA – The IPv4 en IPv6 addresses the Naam Punten Tot.
- MX – Mail servers, with a priority Getal. Lower Getallen are tried first.
- NS, TXT, CNAME, SOA, CAA – Naam servers, text records such as SPF, aliases, zone authority en which certificate authorities may issue certificates.
De formule
Nee calculation. The browser asks Cloudflare’s public DNS overschreden HTTPS service voor each record type en shows the answers it gets. TTL is the time in seconds that resolvers may cache an answer.
Een rekenvoorbeeld
A lookup example.com returns an A record with an IPv4 address, MX records voor mail, en TXT records including its SPF policy.
Aannames en beperkingen
- Answers come from a public resolver en may be cached voor up tot the TTL, so a change made a few minutes ago may not show yet.
- The lookup is made when you press the button.
- Only the veelvoorkomend record types are offered.
Veelgemaakte fouten
- Typing a full web address with a pae en expecting records voor the page. DNS works on domain names only.
- Expecting a Verandering tot Toon immediately. Caches hold old answers tot the TTL runs out.
- Looking up a subdomain you have not created, which returns Nee records.

What is a DNS record?
An entry that tells the internet something about a domain, such as which server hosts its website of handles its email.

Why are there several MX records?
They give backup mail servers. The one with the lowest priority Getal is tried first.

The domain does not exist, so check the spelling.
