La formula
Percentuale error = |measured − true| ÷ |true| × 100. Percentuale difference = |a − b| ÷ ((|a| + |b|) ÷ 2) × 100.
Un esempio pratico
A student measures gravitational acceleration as 9.6 m/s² when the accepted value è 9.81. The absolute error è 0.21, so the percent error è 0.21 ÷ 9.81 × 100 = 2.141%, e the signed error è −2.141% because the measurement è low.
