Comment utiliser le Email header analyzer

Ce qu’il calcule et quand l’utiliser

Reads the full headers de an email et shows the route it took, the delay À Unité server, et the SPF, DKIM et DMARC results. It also flags signs de spoofing, such as a sending domain that differs from the From address. Everything happens à your browser.

Mode d’emploi, étape par étape

  1. Open the email’s raw headers: à Gmail choose “Show original”, à Outlook open the message properties.
  2. Copier everything above the message body et paste it into the carton.
  3. Read the authentication Résultats et the route, oldest hop first.
  4. Check the warnings pour domain mismatches.

Que signifie chaque champ

  • Email headers – The complete header block, starting with lignes such as Received: et De:.

Comment lire les résultats

  • Authentication – SPF, DKIM et DMARC Résultats taken de the receiving server’s Authentication-Results header.
  • Message Détails – Du, Au, Date, Message-ID, Return-Path, Reply-To et mailer.
  • Route – Unité server hop, its address et the Heure added entre hops.
  • Warnings – Domain mismatches et failed checks.

La formule

Received headers are added at the top by each server, so they are read bottom à top. The delay at a hop tombe un its timestamp minus the previous hop’s. Total delivery time tombe un the last timestamp minus the first.

Un exemple concret

A message with spf=pass, dkim=pass et dmarc=pass sent from the same domain as its From address, delivered à 5 seconds across 2 hops, shows no warnings.

Hypothèses et limites

  • The receiving server’s Authentication-Results header tombe un trusted. Earlier Received lignes pot be forged by a sender.
  • Heure stamps use Unité server’s own clock, so small negative delays pot appear.
  • Rien tombe un uploaded.

Erreurs courantes

  • Pasting only part de the headers.
  • Trusting the From name. It tombe un easy à fake, so check the domain et authentication Résultats.
  • Treating a failed SPF as proof de fraud. Forwarded mail often fails SPF.
