How to use the flag & currency quiz

What it calculates and when to use it

A geography quiz: name the country from its flag, find the country that uses a currency, or pick the currency a country uses. The daily quiz has ten questions, the same for everyone, with a streak; practice rounds are unlimited.

How to use it, step by step

  1. Choose Today’s quiz, or Practice for unlimited rounds.
  2. In Practice, choose flags, currencies or both, and well-known countries or all countries.
  3. Pick one of four answers (or press 1 to 4).
  4. After ten questions, see your score and share it.

What each input means

  • Mode – Today’s quiz or Practice.
  • Questions – Flags, Currencies or Both.
  • Countries – Well known (about 70 countries) or All countries.

How to read the results

  • Score – Correct answers out of ten, with a green and red grid you can share.
  • Answers – Every question with the right answer.
  • Streak – Days in a row with at least 5 out of 10 in the daily quiz.

The formula

Wrong answers are drawn at random from other countries. Currency questions only use currencies that belong to a single country, so there is always one right answer.

A worked example

A red flag with a white cross is Switzerland; the baht is used in Thailand; the złoty is Poland’s currency.

Assumptions and limits

  • Country and currency names appear in your language.
  • Flags are the current national flags.

Common mistakes

  • Mixing up flags that look alike, such as Chad and Romania, or Indonesia and Monaco.
  • Confusing a currency’s symbol with its name: several currencies use the $ sign.

Frequently asked questions

How many countries are there?

All countries and territories with their own flag can come up in All countries mode.

Is it the same quiz for everyone?

Yes, the daily quiz changes at midnight and is the same for everyone that day.

Why are some currencies not asked about?

Shared currencies such as the euro would have more than one right answer.
