How to use the router login finder
What it calculates and when to use it
Lists the usual admin web address for popular router brands and internet providers, and shows how to find your default gateway on Windows, Mac, iPhone, Android and Linux. Use it when you need to reach your router’s settings page.
How to use it, step by step
- Type your router brand or provider to filter the list, or read the table.
- Connect to the router by Wi-Fi or cable.
- Type the address into your browser’s address bar.
- Sign in with the details on the router’s label.
What each input means
- Router brand or ISP – Part of a name such as TP-Link, BT or Virgin.
How to read the results
- Admin address – The usual address, with alternatives for some models.
- Find your gateway – Steps to read the gateway address on your own device.
The formula
No calculation. Most home routers use a private address ending in .1 or .254: 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.254 or 10.0.0.1. The default gateway of your device is the router’s address.
A worked example
A TP-Link router usually answers at 192.168.0.1 or tplinkwifi.net, and a BT Home Hub at 192.168.1.254.
Assumptions and limits
- The list shows common defaults. Your router may have been changed, so the label on the device or the gateway shown on your own device is more reliable.
- No passwords are listed. Default logins are printed on your router’s label.
Common mistakes
- Being connected to a different network, such as mobile data, and finding the page does not load.
- Typing the address into a search box instead of the address bar.
- Leaving the default login in place. Change it after signing in.
