How to use the pdf tools
What it calculates and when to use it
Six PDF tools in one page, all running in your browser: merge, split, rotate and reorder pages, compress, turn images into a PDF and save pages as images. Files are never uploaded.
How to use it, step by step
- Choose the tool: Merge, Split, Rotate & reorder, Compress, Images to PDF or PDF to images.
- Drop your files on the page or choose them.
- Set the options, such as page ranges or image quality.
- Press the button and download the result, or all results as a ZIP.
What each input means
- Files – PDFs, or JPG, PNG and WebP images for Images to PDF.
- Page ranges – For Split, such as 1-3, 5, 8-10.
- Compression – Basic keeps text; Strong turns pages into images.
- Resolution – For PDF to images: 72, 144 or 216 dpi.
How to read the results
- Ready to download – The new file’s size and page count, or the list of files.
- Before and after – For Compress, the original and new sizes.
The formula
Merge, split and reorder copy pages without re-encoding them, so quality is unchanged. Strong compression renders each page and saves it as a JPEG at the chosen quality.
A worked example
Split a 12-page PDF with the ranges “1-3, 10-12” to get two files: pages 1–3 and pages 10–12. Tick “Split every page” instead to get 12 single-page PDFs in one ZIP.
Assumptions and limits
- Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.
- Very large files are limited by your device’s memory.
- Basic compression helps most with files saved inefficiently; scanned PDFs shrink most with strong compression.
Common mistakes
- Using strong compression on documents that must stay searchable: text becomes an image.
- Expecting form fields to stay fillable after strong compression.
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded?

Is there a file size limit?
Only your device’s memory. Hundreds of pages usually work on a computer.
Will merging reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied exactly as they are.
Can I reorder pages?
Yes. Use Rotate & reorder to move, rotate and delete pages before saving.
